Light is revered as the symbol of Divinity, Awakening, Hope, Truth, prosperity & immortality in our tradition.

Since times immemorial, worship of light remained in our tradition as a symbol of victory of divinity over evil. Vilakku poojai (Lamp-worship) is familiar among women in our society even to the remotest corners of our nation.

In this context, Nandhanar Sevashrama Trust has promoted and performs Vilakku poojai (Lamp-worship) as a reguar feature for the community gathering and team-work among women.

At present, Thiruvilakkku Pooja is conducted in 24 villages (12 in Cuddalore district & 12 in Perambalur district).
